Moraira - Calp

Overlooked by the Castell de Moraira, we prepare all our equipment to start a new route that will take us to Calp.

Shortly after leaving l'Ampolla beach and heading southwest, we can already see today's great challenge: the Peñón de Ifach, that great limestone rock standing 332 metres high, watching us from its most eastern end.

Our route will go through turquoise waters, between the coves of the towns of Teulada/Moraira, Benissa and Calp, areas rich in sea grass with low cliffs that will guide us to the majestic Ifach.

We head towards Cap Blanc or Punta Estrella. Just 480 metres from our boarding point we come to Les Platgetes, two small coves, one rocky and one of fine sand. We continue our journey in search of L'Andragó cove and after a little bit of paddline we will reach Cap Blanc or Punta Estrella and its pretty cove.

We continue the journey, arriving at Baladrar, a pebble cove in the municipality of Benissa. We will continue sailing and enjoying forests that stretch to the sea. We will pass through Cala Advocat and, after a few paddles, we will come onto the most natural, wild and quiet cove of Benissa, Cala Llobella.

A quiet journey in shallow waters will take us to a small sandy and rocky cove at Pinets, from where we can make a short excursion on foot to the well-known Mar Morta and Roques Negres (Dead Sea & Black Rocks). The first stop owes its name to a small tongue of shallow water, surrounded by rocks that protect it from the waves (great for children), and the second is named after rock formations with iron deposits giving it a unique ochre-red tone.

We return to our nautical route until we reach the best-known beach in the Benisero territory, La Fustera, with fine natural sand dominated by majestic meadows of sea grass and equipped with all the facilities you need. Leaving this point, at about 260 metres, we can see an area of extraction of rough stone, formerly used for construction.

A short distance away we can see the Les Basetes Sailing Club and the bay of the same name, where you can access the Nature Walk through its south gate. During your tour you can enjoy wonderful views of the coast and discover more using the various information boards.

We leave Benissa to get closer to today's goal. On the way, we pass more coves, each one different and with its own unique attraction. Navigation is easy, in shallow waters and with plenty of routes to escape at any time.

The Mallorquí cove welcomes us to the territory of Calp and its size becomes bigger and more impressive. After navigating the stretch of white bluff we reach Calalga, a quiet cove of sand and stones, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim.

We continue the journey and arrive at La Fossa, a long, urban beach with fine golden sand and crystal clear waters. Here we start to feel ever smaller compared to the majesty of the Peñón de Ifach rock, our second natural park since we set off from Els Poblets.

After a few hours of peaceful kayaking, it's time for the body to adapt to safely passing round the cape that creates the Peñón de Ifach, and depending on the weather forecast we have a change of sea and wind.

Before reaching the impressive walls of the Peñon rock, we will pass the Penyal cove on our right, the last possibility of escape before arriving at the western end of the cape. Just before the port of Calp we arrive at a small cove of boulders, El Racó.

After the port we can enjoy new beaches of fine sand and a few metres away we will see our landing area, cala Morrelló, just before Los Baños de la Reina, where we recommend stopping for a visit to end today's stage.
