Torrevieja - Pilar de la Horadada

We will start our twelfth stage towards Pilar de la Horadada, which will be the final point on our trip.

We will embark from Los Locos beach and after circumventing a jetty, we will arrive at Palangre cove with an eye on Punta Carral a bit further on. Next to it the beach of Curay awaits us with its fine sand and we continue south where we will find some small coves just like swimming pools. We sail parallel to the Paseo de Torrevieja, once we have passed the Port, the beach of Los Náufragos awaits us, we will sail along the town's entire inlet.

Ferris beach and Ferris cove with palm trees and small dunes, will guide us to the small cape of Punta Prima, where we will head west to reach Punta Prima beach, cercana al paseo marítimo, close to the promenade, where we will sail again near low cliffs, already close to Orihuela Costa, until arriving at cabo Peñas.

We continue navigating between impressive fine sandy coves. La Mosca, Estaca, Cerrada, del Bosque y Capitán, with its islet (isla del Carmen), will be our companions before we face Cabo Roig. We will go close to its reddish cliffs until we reach the Cabo Roig Marina and its beach.

We leave behind the sandy beach to continue sailing underneath cliffs, we will pass through La Caleta and arrive at Playa Aguamarina, both with beautiful turquoise waters. We continue, passing La Glea beach and reaching the Dehesa de Campoamor Sailing Club.

We continue south, along playa de Campoamor, to the beach of las Mil Palmeras. Both are of fine sandand are separated by a stretch of cliffs sculpted by the water that form small and incredible caves. These are very impressive formations.

Now in the land of Pilar de la Horadada we reach another small stretch of cliffs. They are part of a Roman quarry of the 1st and 2nd centuries BC. We pass them and continue navigating the small coves of Rocamar, bordering Punta del Gato. After this we come across playas de Jesuitas, El Conde and la Punta de la Horadada, from where we will be escorted by its lookout tower dating from the sixteenth century.

We continue and leave behind the Torre de la Horadada Sailing Club. We will paddle next to a large area of rocks laid by man so that the sea does not continue to erode the coast (playa de Las Villas) and we will discover the majestic beach of Las Higuericas and its dune system. We will reach Esculls del Mojón, a formation of submerged rocks parallel to the coast, which indicate that we are at the end of our stage and at our point of disembarkation.
