Mountains

The Costa Blanca region, admired all over Europe for its beaches and cliffs, is also Spain's second most mountainous province, with more than 50 peaks standing at over 1,000 metres high. These mountain areas are home to a hugely diverse range of habitats. This means you can observe major species like Bonelli's eagle (Aquila fasciata), the majestic golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), griffon vultures (Gyps fulvus), the rare rufous-tailed scrub robin (Cercotrichas galactotes), lots of different types of warblers and rock thrushes plus the sociable European bee-eater (Merops apiaster).
