Golf

World champions such as Severiano Ballesteros and José María Olazábal have put their stamp on some of the 22 golf courses in the province

Alicante is dying itself green. The 22 golf courses located throughout the province (three of which are Pitch&Putt) have turned the Costa Blanca into an international reference for playing golf. Not only for the quality of its grass but also for the services offered, both in terms of accommodation and restaurants as well as complementary leisure activities. The short distance which separates the various golf courses and the good road connections offer golf lovers the opportunity to try different golf courses throughout their stay, choosing between courses with sea views or surrounded by spectacular mountain ranges and valleys. These golf courses include practice areas, for beginners and for those who are looking to improve their technique, as well as complex holes which turn into genuine challenges during the various competitions which take place in the Costa Blanca.

However, the Costa Blanca's main attraction for golf lovers is its climate, enabling golfers to play golf all year round. This was taken into account when world champions such as Severiano Ballesteros, José María Olazábal and Jack Nicklaus designed some of the golf courses located between Denia and Orihuela. It is an excellent opportunity to get to know the nearby towns and to enjoy the region's different leisure activities, gastronomy and culture, which caters for all tastes.

To make things easier, Alicante has an Association of Golf Courses in the Costa Blanca and the Costa Blanca Golfing Friends Club. Over half a million visitors have already travelled to the region to enjoy a spot of golf.
