Agres

Going up to Agres is to establish direct communication with nature like nowhere else.

It is a typical mountain village that presents privileged accesses to the nearby Sierra de Mariola. This is a steep village with a well preserved old town, and full of fresh water sources. It is basically dedicated to the agriculture, especially to the almonds, apples and other fruits production.

In the upper side of the town, in the foothills of Sierra de Mariola, was located the Castle, that latter was demolished, and the Convento Franciscano where, according to the tradition, miraculously appeared an image of the Virgin that was fleeing from fire in the city of Alicante on August 31st, 1484.

But the great miracle of Agres is its water: there are fountains everywhere; water runs down through the stones, soaks the roots, and assaults the roads.
