It is a typical mountain village due to its proximity
to Sierra Aitana, the highest mountain in the province. Many tours that cross
the district start from this town. The landscape is wild and you can practice
hunting and mushrooms collecting in winter. Historically it was inhabited by
Moorish until they were expelled by Felipe III and it has been legally linked
to Penáguila. Within the town there is an interesting medieval center formed by
the remains of the Marqués de Malferit palace. Nowadays, the agriculture is its
main productive activity. They produce oil and cultivate fruit trees.
