Coming from the valley that form Sierra Aitana, La
Sierra Serrella and Sierra del Plans, the first town we meet is Benasau, name
of Arab origin. It is an agricultural town that belonged to the Señorío de los
Barones de Finestrat (whose palace still preserved near the church). It is
small and lies next to the road that goes from Alcoy to Callosa d’En Sarrià. In
the old village area they have built the sports facilities. If you are thinking
of an interesting trip, near Benasau, there is an unpopulated Moorish town
called Ares del Bosque that you can visit. It has no population due to the
expulsion of the Moorish in 1609.
