Gata de Gorgos

Gata owes his surname to the Gorgos River, also called Jalón, which crosses it ending at the coast of Xàbia.

It was traditionally linked to the grape agriculture and the crafts of esparto. The confection of objects with esparto and palmetto is currently a source of wealth and prosperity due to the tourist demand. It is very picturesque the image of the craft shops with their manufactures in the doors of the street, which is the national road that crosses the town, being offered to the view of the surprised and curious traveler.

The white houses with ivory-colored stone lintels give the town its typical character. The construction of the new bridge over the river has been an important fact for the city in recent years, which is allowing the development towards other areas of the municipality.
