It is a small municipality in the north of the
Province, located in the Serpis valley, in front of Sierra de Mariola, and
neighbor of the big cities of Alcoy and Cocentaina. This little village with
just over 400 inhabitants extends on a plain next to the road that connects
Cocentaina with Muro de Alcoy. It combines the rainfed agriculture such as the
vid and the olive tree, with the industrial activities represented in
traditional papermaking, for example the famous BAMBÚ smoking paper. Here also
stand out the products of the irrigated orchard, its gastronomy, its rich
sausages and honey. It is worth a walk through its old town ad taste the
variety of herbal liquors in the local bars. The Serpis River rises here and
runs along the town. Around it you can find recreational areas, a large forest
and vegetation from the Ribera.
