Torremanzanas/Torre de les Maçanes (La)

The Torre de les Maçanes owes its name to an old Almohad fortress located in the upper side of the town, and evokes a past with hospitable tradition since Maçanes means inns. The first thing that draws attention is the natural environment surrounding the area, little by little the vegetation becomes thicker, and the pine forest and the kermes oaks flank the path that leads to the town. This mainly agricultural town keeps remarkable urban treasures such as the Casa Alta, an Almhohade tower (XIII century), which in the past was a watchtower. The Church of Santa Ana and the curious fortified farmhouse known as Foia de Cortes are other attractions of this green town in the Alacantí district.
