Villajoyosa/Vila Joiosa (La)

La Vila is the historical and administrative capital of the Marina Baixa district and its economy is based on fishing. This relationship with the sea has marked its history and its culture since the maritime trade overseas produced the development of the other typical industry in La Vila: the manufacture of chocolate. La Vila hides many attractions such as the fish auctions celebrated in the afternoon, the colorful facades originated by the need for the sailors to see their houses from the distance. The fortified old town is worthy of being contemplated and strolled. La Vila presents a series of beaches, among which stand out the one of El Centro, where take place the famous Moorish landing, or the one of El Paradís. These are the best ones although there are others such as the Xarco with its watchtower, the Torres with the Roman-funeral tower of Hercules. A small cove, called Racó Conill, used to practice scuba diving or nudism. And we must also highlight the coves of transparent waters of Bol Nou and La Caleta.
